Dick Tracy Statue Unveiling

April 11, 2010, Naperville Township, IL
Speech by Gary Vician

Good afternoon. In behalf of the Naperville Township and the Township Officials, we would like to thank you for gathering here today to unveil this statue of Dick Tracy.

Special thanks to the Century Walk Committee and creator Dick Locher, for gracious donations which embody their spirit and the Spirit of our Community.

Just as Dick Tracy is an international icon of Law and Order, so it is fitting that we are surrounded today by distinguished citizens and members of law enforcement. For Naperville Township is where the first local peace officers and constables were established over 150 years ago. Detective Tracy is a symbol, the triumph of Good over Evil. He embodies the American characteristics of Courage, Innovation, and Relentless Determination.

Let us celebrate this creation and those ideals today. And may we be dedicated to the American Rights and Principals, granted by our Creator, which have brought forth the greatest development of Life, Liberty, and Prosperity in all of human history.

Thank You…. and God Bless All of You!
